About Aaron's Homestead Products
Aaron's Homestead Products (AHP) is woman-owned family business, operating in Corry, PA.  AHP is the Gardening Products Division of Corco Industries, Inc.    Corco Industries started out as a powder coating job shop in 1996. In 2002, we expanded our shop to include contract manufacturing with full sheet metal and wood shop manufacturing capabilities.

Aaron's Homestead grew out of our love of the simple life and our passion for growing our own food. It is important to us to make a high quality product right here in the United States, and to keep our fellow Americans employed. It is also important to us to help people feed themselves no matter their limitations, whether they have mobility problems or lack of gardening space or experience.

Another major concern that lead to the creation of the elevated garden planter boxes is food safety. Recently, in the news, people have been getting sick and even dying from e-coli contaminated produce. By growing your own food, you know where your food comes from and you can control what types of fertilizer and pesticides (if any) are incorporated in your food.

Seedlings planted in the spring. One tomato plant, 5 cauliflower, chives, 3 marigolds, 2 green peppers, and 6 heads of romaine lettuce, 2 green bean seeds.
2 weeks after planting the seedlings
After harvesting the lettuce and cauliflower there was room to replant. Green beans, basil, parsley, spinach and carrots were added to this planter box.
Over 60 Roma tomatoes were harvested, just on this one plant!

How to Plant an Herb Garden
* Cilantro, you can plant 4-8 plants as long as you harvest the plants while still young. If you want it to go to seed (Coriander) then leave only one plant per square.

Harvest often, especially the basil and parsley, to keep plants healthy and of manageable size.

Make sure you stake the cucumber and tomato plants well so they do not blow over in the wind.

Radishes grow very quickly, so once you have picked the first crop, replant more, and then again for a bountiful harvest. The same goes for the lettuce and spinach.

Do you know where your food comes from?

by Julie Kingston on 04/27/12

Knowing where your food comes from is so important these days. In a world economy and fast transportation, the produce we buy at our favorite grocery store can come from just about anywhere. Considering other countries do not have the same regulations as the US, makes our food supply even more questionable. What types of contaminates are in the soil of a country clouded by toxic air pollution?

Our food travels an average of 1,500 miles before it reaches our home. What happens to that produce along the way? Is it kept at the correct temperature consistently so toxic pathogens will not grow? Are preservatives added for a longer shelf life? How much more do we pay for our food because of the travel expense? How much flavor is lost because the produce was picked early?

All of these worrisome questions can be alleviated by growing your own food right at home. Not only will you cut your grocery bill down, you will feel safe feeding your family food you know is safe to eat. Not to mention the fact that the food will taste so much better. No more bland or mealy tomatoes, but tomatoes that are full of flavor.

Planting your garden is easy when you plant in an Elevated Garden Planter Box. You can garden just about anywhere. Growing your food in an Elevated Planter saves you time, money, and water. You no longer have to buy expensive garden equipment to till your garden beds. Since planting at waist level, you no longer have to spend your time hunched over a garden bed, sowing, weeding (if there are any weeds) and harvesting are right at a very comfortable height.

If you live in any area that has water restrictions our Elevated Garden Planter Box is the right choice for you. The deep 14" bed holds in moisture, especially if you use a moisture control soil and peat moss mulch. Watering the planter is very easy, yet if you water it too much or get too much rain the excess water will drain out of the box so your plants will not succumb to root rot.

Feed your family the healthy choice, produce grown at home no matter where that home is, in an apartment, mobile home park, condo or townhome.
